Role Summary:

The Student Intern is responsible for assisting project teams by completing a variety of tasks while learning in a collaborative team-based environment. This role is based in our Minneapolis practice site.

Experience & Education:

Candidates must be enrolled in an academic Interior Design program. This position requires at least a 16-29 hour per week time commitment.

Basic knowledge of REVIT, Adobe CS5, and Microsoft Office required. Must have the ability to write reports and business correspondence. Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills. Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, client and the general public. Must be fluent in reading, writing and speaking the English language.

Position Overview:

  • Manages the filing and organization of the resource library and schedules all meetings with industry product reps.
  • Assist with general office organizing or improvements.
  • Drafting using Revit.
  • Creating 3D computer models using Revit or similar modeling Assist team members with presentation materials specifications.
  • Render project elevations or perspectives using Photoshop, Revit or similar rendering programs Assist with industry research projects, studies or whitepapers.
  • Receives direction from Interior Design team members based on project task.

Student Summer Intern Interior Design – Pope Architects

Student Summer Intern Interior Design

Job Description:

We are seeking a second or third year Interior Design Student Intern to work with our Interior Design team in a supporting role.  This position is temporary and full-time during the summer, a minimum of forty hours per week. Working with our design team will give you the opportunity to collaborate on projects with other designers, use Revit in the preparation of documentation, and communicate with product representatives. Someone with a positive attitude, passion about interior design, and a desire to learn and grow would be the ideal candidate for this position. This position has a June start date.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist interior designers with development and documentation of design solutions
  • Maintain the interior design material library
  • Aid with the production of presentation boards
  • Create digital interior renderings

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Works well both independently and in a team setting
  • Revit knowledge required
  • SketchUp and Photoshop knowledge preferred
  • Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed, as well as determine and manage priorities with guidance

Education and Experience:

Working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, 2nd or 3rd year student preferred

IIDA Northland Student Grant 

IIDA Northland aims to enable and empower the future designers of the North with programming and opportunities to develop and grow. This grant gives current student members an opportunity to think critically about interior design in an uncertain world. $2,000 grants will be offered to up to five students.
