Quick Way to Write a Letter to Your Legislator

ASID at the National level has developed a letter writing campaign tool that takes the hard work out of letter writing. Simply follow the steps below and email a letter to your representatives stating your support for the bills. It is important that your letter be an individual expression of your own convictions.  

1) Log on to ASID's Capitol Connections

2) Customize your letter to be your own individual expression.

3) Reference the Interior Design Practice Act as Senate File 799 and House File 991.

4) If you do not know who your representatives are, go to the Minnesota District Finder website and type in your address.

Or, write your own personal letter showing your support.

Here are some points that you may want to put into your own words and add to your letter:

• I am your constituent and I want you to support the regulation of the interior design profession.

• I have practiced interior design for ___ years and I protect the public's health, safety, and welfare.

• Interior designers have extensive education, experience and pass an exam to determine their qualifications.

• Current legislation is only a title act and does not regulate the practice of interior design or protect the public.
