Great River Energy (GRE) is a not for profit electric utility. Their new headquarters is a 166,000 square foot; four-story office building that was the first Certified LEED Platinum Building in Minnesota.
GRE’s new office work environment was designed to showcase their collaborative culture, workplace productivity and energy efficiency. GRE leadership sought a ‘living/learning lab’ of energy reduction strategies transferable to their customers. All in pursuit of a goal to reduce demand for fossil fuel power generation. GRE staff sought a new work environment to enhance collaboration as they pursue innovative new approaches to the ever changing energy business. The result is a dynamic workplace focused on individual comfort control, productivity, interaction and maximum energy efficiency. Daylight filled, airy and bright, the facility provides functional daylight into over 86% of the interior spaces, outdoor views for 94% of the interior spaces. Energy use was reduced nearly 50%.
