A small high-end clothing store by-day, OPM Boutique plays dress-up as an after hours event space and fashion show venue by-night. The unique program requirements of OPM presented some interesting design opportunities: In order to create a boutique space for selling merchandise which seamlessly transforms to an after-hours party locale – the materials, programming, and detail decisions were all based on flexible parameters and thus, the solutions are truly FABulous and one-of-a-kind. Its innovative design surpasses the basic needs of a traditional boutique space and has quickly become a local fashion institution in a hip retail community in Minneapolis. The design for OPM presents a combination of interesting materials, innovative use of space, and a non-traditional approach to design; it truly takes the ordinary and makes it extraordinary – a couture space on a bargain shopper’s budget.
