Meet our Judges:
A 23 year veteran of the beauty industry, Julie Swenson is an award winning makeup artist, hairstylist and educator.
Swenson's work can be seen in film, television, print and on the runway. She's participated in NY and LA Fashion Weeks, and has done work for MTV, Warner Bros, and NBC.
Recognized as a beauty and wellness expert, Swenson has been featured and published in local and national magazines. She's the Editor of her own magazine, The Look, and has recently published Beauty In Balance, a book that promotes holistic wellness.
Swenson is a guest educator at the Aveda Institute, Minneapolis, and for schools and salons nationwide. She is the Founder of The Makeup Annex, a training center that hosts beauty and wellness classes for women, brides, and The Makeup Annex Group, an online community that connects hundreds of beauty professionals.
Tara LaTour is a fashion designer based out of Minneapolis, MN. Tara graduated with a BFA in Fashion Design from Parson's School of Design in NYC. While there, her fresh approach to bridal began to create a buzz in the industry. Tara's brand began in 2011 and her brand is known for its bold use of color, construction and a fashion-forward view point.
Kara graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ohio University with a degree in Interior Architecture and began her career at a firm in San Francisco. She loved the work but felt confined by the walls of her cubicle so she took the job of a lifetime designing homes all over the country for ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Since the show ended, she's worked as a Design Producer for many HGTV shows and has started her own business, Wheelhouse Interiors.
Meet our Co-hosts:
Natalie Nyhus is the host of WCCO's Saturday Mornings show and highlights some of the state's top gems in the "Best of Minnesota" series. She studied broadcast journalism, print journalism and theology at the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, Minn.
Natalie got her start as a sports reporter on Fox Sports North and the Big Ten Network. Prior to reporting traffic and entertainment on WCCO 4 News This Morning for four years, she was courtside with the Minnesota Timberwolves as their in-arena host. She also worked with Hollywood 411 out of Los Angeles, hosted an arts and entertainment talk radio show on MyTalk 107.1 FM and covered nightlife at The CW Twin Cities.
Falen grew up in a small country town in Southern Indiana. It was so small, she had a graduating class of 35. After graduation, she moved away to attend college at the University of Southern Indiana, and that's where she found her love for radio. Her first job was in radio, and after a week, she knew that's what she'd do for life. She began by pioneering the first female night show in the Tri-State before moving to mornings.
She traveled across the country to chase her dreams and landed a morning show at KWYL in Reno, NV of all places. Side Note: It isn't like Reno 911, and she only spent $20 gambling in her 2-year stint there. Bigger things were calling her, so she moved back across the country to join the Marconi Winning, Dave Ryan in the Morning Show on KDWB in 2012. She is now Dave's co-host and has acquired many winter coats.
