Fusion+Fashion

IIDA Northland will host its 9th annual charity fashion show on Friday, October 3rd.

This non-traditional runway show challenges participants to "Get Amplified." This year, entrants will be asked to create couture ensembles inspired by music venues from around the world. The use of materials and finishes from the building design industry is strongly encouraged, but not required. In an effort to make a more charitable impact to the our local building and design industry, a portion of the proceeds will go to the IIDA Foundation, a not-for-profit philanthropic organization whose primary mission is to advance Interior Design through education, research, and knowledge to benefit IIDA and the Interior Design profession.

The Theme:
Get Amplified!

Get inspired by iconic music venues from around the globe!  Each Fusion+Fashion contestant must design and create a runway fashion look inspired by a global music theater, hall, or concert venue, paying homage to this year's venue—Orchestra Hall.

Each entrant will select a venue from a predetermined list of locations on a first come, first served basis – see the list of options here.  The sooner you sign up, the more likely you are to be paired with your preferred venue.  Your couture should be inspired by the building design and cultural influences of your chosen venue.  If there's a concert venue that inspires you that's NOT on the list, there is an option to write-in a request; see constraints below for more info.

The Constraints:

  • Your garment must reflect the musical locale you're paired with.  Whether the inspiration comes from the interior, exterior, a design detail, the cultural influences of the venue location, etc., is up to you. Creativity counts!  
  • If there is a concert venue that inspires you that's NOT on the list, feel free to write-in a venue. All write-ins are subject to approval by the Fusion Committee and will be approved or rejected within 48 hours of submission.  No duplicates allowed.
  • Your garment must be an original creation designed specifically for Fusion+Fashion 2014.
  • Refer back to the Fusion+Fashion website for regular updates and FAQs.
  • Registration for the design community and general public to participate in the fashion show opens Friday, July 25th (the day after Minnecon/PIQUE).

Orchestra Hall Pre-Party Sponsor - $3,000

Customize your night and invite your guests to an exclusive pre-party in the Green Room at Orchestra Hall. Located on the west side overlooking Peavey Plaza and Nicollet Mall, the Green Room can accommodate a seated dinner for 30 guests or standing reception for 60 guests. Your purchase of the sponsorship package includes access to the space before the general public, ten preferred seats to the show, and time to mingle with the celebrity judges and our returning emcee, Natalie Kane.

  • Access to the Green Room beginning at 6:00 p.m. for a pre-party
    before our 8:00 p.m. show

  • 10 preferred seat tickets for the main level of the auditorium

VIP Balcony Box 13 Seats Sponsor - $2,300

Stage Decor Sponsor - $1,500

Elevate your exposure by showcasing your products on the Fusion stage! Decorate the stage and define the runway using your company's products, such as lounge chairs, a stage backdrop, and partitions to define the runway. Exercise your creativity to incorporate your product into the show alongside the Fusion committee. 

This sponsorship package includes:

  • Two general admission tickets
  • Banner with your company logo
  • Company logo scrolling on the screen before and after the show
  • Company logo in the event program
  • Company name on IIDA Fusion+Fashion website 

*In lieu of a cash donation, sponsor through donation of materials for stage presence and have your company logo included in the sponsors list. Examples include partitions, hanging fabric panels, lounge seating and stage props.  Email fusion@iida-northland.org to discuss further as material/product donations require approval from Fusion Committee and Orchestra Hall 

*Multiple companies may sponsor the stage decor to ensure that all the materials needed to fill the stage plus be functional for our judges.

Beverage Sponsor - $1,500

Help us fly in our celebrity judge(s)! We strive to have a well rounded, un-biased panel of judges at Fusion. This year we are working to confirm travel dates with a celebrity TV design show personality, an L.A. based fashion blogger, and one of Minneapolis's own theatre designers.

  • Backstage tour and chance to meet the judges for you and up to 8 guests

Models: Know Before you Go

A confirmation of your purchase will be sent to you after registration.  The Fusion Committee will send more detailed information regarding how to submit design statements, day of timeline, etc. within two weeks of your registration. 

Orchestra Hall will have an exclusive backstage area to prep and primp, offering more room than ever for an elevated model experience.  

Note: there will be stairs to the stage and as a part of the runway this year – plan your footwear accordingly.
