Student Affairs Update

The IIDA Northland Chapter Student Design Award

Sponsored by Haworth was awarded to; Anna Gimmer from the University of Wisconsin Madison. She attended the FAB Awards and received her award.  Megan Gorden, IIDA from Studio Hive, along with David Fik and Brian Scott of Haworth’s Ideation Group were jurors for the Award. They felt Anna’s interpretation and integration of organizational culture into her studio project, Enke Architects, brought simplicity and clarity to complex ideas. Her strong graphic communication and ideation exploration clearly demonstrated critical thinking and design application. Anna’s solution considered the human side of organizational cultures and critically considered how a space would truly function in a real-life situation.  Congratulations Anna!

Pilot Mentorship program

The IIDA Northland Chapter’s Pilot Mentorship program has begun.  Over 25 mentor-student matches have been made with students from various schools in the region, including students from schools as far away as University of WI Stout and Iowa State University.  The kick event was a successful night that created an opportunity for the mentors and students to meet.   The next event will be a gathering to conclude the pilot program, details will be forthcoming.
